University History

In 1863, Adelphi University was founded as an Adelphi Academy as a private preparatory school in Brooklyn, New York, USA. In 1963, the New York State Board of Regents granted the college university status, and the name was changed to Adelphi University from Adelphi Academy which is located in Garden City, New York, USA. In 1929, Adelphi University became the first private, co-educational institution of higher education on Long Island and this change came after 100years. Current full- and part-time faculty total to 956, with a student/faculty ratio of 10:1 which ensures that scholars have enough resources needed to reach their goals and the infrastructure is also designed as per student needs.

Main Campus (Garden City)-

The main campus of Adelphi University is situated at Garden City, New York, USA. The campus gives a safe, community feel. Garden City is a village of about 20,000 residents. On-campus- Residential Life and Housing Department of Adelphi University offers residential communities, where students from all over the country and the world live, learn and grow together. Each of Adelphi’s seven residential communities offers support and convenience, as well as opportunities for personal growth, cultural exploration, and interaction with all facilities and staff. The university has 7 residence halls for comfortable housing- Chapman Hall, Earle Hall, Eddy Hall, Linen Hall, Waldo Hall, Residence Hall A and Residence Hall B.  Students can select rooms of their choice based on costs, hall facilities, location, availability.
