University History

Ball State University is a Public Research University in Muncie, Indiana. The University was founded in 1918 as the Indiana State Normal School Eastern Division. After much development over the years finally in 1965 the University was named Ball State University as it grew phenomenally. The visionaries behind the Ball State University are the Five Ball Brothers industrialists and philanthropists.The University though started as a college is now a University with 7 academic colleges and around 20,000 students enrolled in the university. The Ball State University is home to some of the major names from different fields.

Ball State University Campus

The Ball State University Campus is known for its very unique architecture and design. The main campus is located in the Munice, Indiana and is spread across 731 acres. The campus is huge and has more than 100 buildings within the periphery. The Ball State University campus has some of the earliest buildings also like the Christy woods, Beneficence, Fine arts building, and many others. The campus has the administrative buildings, academic buildings, residential and dining halls, museums, athletic facilities and intramural fields and many other such facilities and services. There is also shuttle service that runs on all the routes and connects every corner of the University. The campus is committed towards various sustainability initiatives and strive towards a clean and green campus.

Ball State University Libraries

Ball State University libraries have a collection of over 1 million volumes of books, serials and periodicals. It has around 3,50,000 e- books and 1,50,000 e-journals. Students can have an access to the 300 research databases. The libraries so far have organised 580 classes, 140 research consultations and over 130 copyright and intellectual property rights consultations with faculties. The services that are being provided by the libraries are: requesting and borrowing, research guides, citation sources, workshops, study room, print and scan, custom book binding, scholar carrels, interlibrary loans and many others. Off campus: There are two University apartments that are outside the campus in a very quiet place are: Anthony apartments and Scheidler apartments. There are both furnished and unfurnished apartments. The rent of these apartments include the utilities also like: electricity, heat, water, sewage, trash removal, internet service. The amenities provided by these apartments are: air conditioning, community room, computer lab, laundry facilities, parking storage cubicles and many others

Ball State University Medical Services

The Ball State University Student Health Center is located in the Amelia T. Wood Building. The center provides all kinds of medical assistance to the students and the staffs of the University. The Health Center has main clinic and pharmacy, women's center and health education, physical therapy, Ball State employee Quickclinic to check acute illness, immunizations/ vaccinations. The Ball State University has its own hospital called the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Ball State University Visa and Immigration

International student services provide immigration counseling to the Ball State F1 International students. Students are advised to contact the International services offices after admission. Follow the required steps as noted to apply for Visa: After taking admission in Ball State University, the student will receive a SEVIS form I-20. After receiving that you have to contact US embassy to schedule an appointment for Visa. You have to take all your original documents, letter of admission and original financial support documents.
