UNIVERSITY HISTORY

Clemson University is situated in Clemson, South Carolina. The university is a public institution and has been given the status of land-grant Research University. Founded in the year1889, it is one of the oldest institutions of the States. The founder of the university is Thomas Green Clemson. The university in the beginning only started with the Clemson Agricultural College in South Carolina. As the university expanded its horizon, it opened up various other schools and departments. The university is now supposed to have around 21,653 undergraduate students, around 80+ major, 90+ minor and around 130+ graduate degree programs.

International students’ information

There are some of the majors that always invite a huge number of applications every year and because of this the admission process is quite competitive. The students have to choose more than two majors. If one is not given the first choice because of seat constraints then the choice will be given. 

Visa and immigration support

Once the admission is finalized, the Office of Global Engagement will issue an I-20 or DS-2019 depending on the eligibility. After that, the students have to take this to the US consulate to apply for a nonimmigrant student visa. Form DS-2019 (J-1 scholar) will be issued to students whose education overseas is funded by their government or by an international organization. If it is not funded then F1 visa will be allotted. Students have to take the responsibility of maintaining legal status with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security during their studies. International students who are transferring from another school in the United States will be issued visa documents at the time of their enrollment at Clemson University.

The athletics teams of the Clemson University are called the Clemson Tigers. The teams are known for their various historic achievements. Cultural events and traditions

Every year Clemson students have the opportunity to attend Homecoming and Tigerama. The Clemson Homecoming tradition began in 1914 and has been held annually at Clemson University ever since. During homecoming week, various student organizations design and build Homecoming floats on Bowman Field. The floats are then revealed on the Saturday of the football game and judged by a select panel. The First Friday Parade has been held on the Friday before the first home football game every year since 1974.
