Kansas State University, History 

Kansas State University was founded in 1863 in Manhattan as Kansas State Agricultural College under the Morrill Act. It is the third oldest school in the Big 12 Conference and the oldest public institution of higher learning in the state of Kansas. The name of the college was changed in 1931 to Kansas State College of Agriculture and Applied Science.
