The Ohio State University History
In the year 1870, The Ohio State University was founded as a land grant university with the Morrill Act 1862 by the name of Ohio Agricultural and Medicine College. The college was initially located within a farming area on the Northern edge of Columbus and was only offering admissions to matriculate students of different agricultural and mechanical disciplines.
On 18 September, 1873 for the first time 24 students came to the university. In 1900, the college changed its name to ‘The Ohio State University’ by which it is presently known. By the 1880s The Ohio State University started accepting graduate students and awarded its first Masters and Doctoral degrees in 1886 and 1890. Ohio State Law university was founded in 1891.
In 1921, the governor Harry L. Davis announced that in The Ohio State University the commonwealth has an educational institute which should become the state’s best institution in the United States of America. In 1952, The Ohio State University established the Interdisciplinary Mershon Centre for International Security Studies.
The university is now under the guidance of President Kristina M. Johnson and provides educational facilities to around 68,000 students in its six campuses. The Ohio State University main campus in Columbus is the third largest campus in the United States of America.

University Campuses
The Ohio State University has six campuses spread in the Ohio State, United States of America.
Columbus
The Ohio State University at Columbus is the main campus which is spread over the area of 1,665 acres. It is the third largest campus in the United States of America. It provides various services to students like women’s center, placement service, health service, health insurance, day care and many more. It provides 24-hour safety and 24-hours emergency services. There are many buildings in the campus which have museums, libraries and labs for the student’s convenience.
CFAES Wooster (Ohio State ATI)
The Ohio State University CFAES (College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. It is an important part of Ohio state wide research- the (OARDC) Ohio Agricultural and Research and Development Centre and (ATI) Ohio State University Agriculture and Technical Institute. This campus offers various opportunities and resources to students, staff and faculty. Around 550 professionals work at CFAES to provide answers to all agricultural challenges. The campus also has (STAR) Soil and Water Quality Lab and (MCIC) Molecular Cellular Imaging Centre which has specialised Genomics and Microscopy facilities.
Mansfield
The Ohio State University Mansfield campus has been serving Northwest Ohio for more than 50 years as one of the regional campuses. This campus is rapidly becoming a student's choice all over the Northeast Ohio area because of its excellent teaching, affordability, research opportunities and internships. Tuition fee is nearly $7,644 full time for two semesters. It also provides affordable on-campus and off-campus housing.
LIMA
The Ohio State University Lima campus started providing classes in 1960. The campus is famous for student-centred activities, various opportunities, athletic opportunities, theatre, music and STEM- based learning experience. The Ohio State University serves Western Ohio. The campus is a blend of small liberal arts college and research university. The campus offers more than 30 clubs and organisations to involve students in different activities.
MARION
The Ohio State University Marion campus is spread on 182 acres of land. It was established in 1957. The new Engineering and Science building provides a new Bachelor of Science in engineering program. NEWARK

University Medical Services
In 1915, the Board of Trustees founded Student Health Services in the campus of The Ohio State University. Initially it was located in Hayes Hall, in 1969 it found its place in John W. Wilce. Its foundation was laid on the principles of “Health First” and “Prevention is greater than the cure” Student Life Student Health Services provides overall health care services to the students of the university. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Centre provides a great range of healthcare services in the state. It has been ranked#1 of Columbus hospital by U.S. News and World Report.
