Oklahoma State University

University History

In 1890, Oklahoma State University–Stillwater was found under Morrill Act. It is a public land-grant research university in Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States of America. Formerly known as Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College and it is the flagship institution of the Oklahoma State University System. In 1896, Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College began with six male graduates. On May 15, 1957, Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical name was changed to the Oklahoma State University of Agricultural and Applied Sciences. In 1980, Oklahoma State University of Agricultural and Applied Sciences was named as Oklahoma State University. The Oklahoma State University System was built at Stillwater as the flagship institution and its several branches are: OSU-Institute of Technology in Okmulgee (1946), OSU-Oklahoma City (1961), OSU-Tulsa (1984), and the Center for Health Sciences also in Tulsa (1988). The university has given 29 Goldwater Scholars, 18 Truman Scholars, 18 Udall Scholars, and 48 Fulbright Scholars, astronauts and a billionaire.

Campuses

Main Campus-

The main campus of Oklahoma State University is situated at Stillwater. Around 24,649 students are studying in this campus out of which 26% out-of-state students. Students come here from 100+ countries and all 50 states. The student and faculty ratio on campus is 20:1 which will help students in preparing them for their future. More than 70 diversity-related student, faculty and staff organizations are present. There are seven academic colleges, a veterinary school and an osteopathic medical school located on this campus. The main campus comprises 32 residence halls, 13 living-learning communities and 45 fraternities and sororities

Oklahoma City

In 1961, Oklahoma State University campus at Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) came into existence. The school was originally named Oklahoma State University Technical Institute, Oklahoma City also known as Oklahoma State University Tech.  In 1961, the campus started with an enrollment of 92 students. In 2021, Oklahoma State University will serve thousands of students each semester which includes in-person classes, hybrid classes, and online education.

Tulsa Campus-

Oklahoma State University’s campus at Tulsa was founded ion 1999. It is a public comprehensive research university situated in Tulsa's Greenwood District. University at Tulsa offers world-class academic programs which includes undergraduate and graduate degree programs in different areas like business, education, engineering and technology, human services and liberal arts. Oklahoma State University at Tulsa students graduate with the same degree that students receive in Stillwater campus. 

Center for Health Sciences-

In 1972, The Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS) was founded. OSU-CHS was established in 1997, as an academic health center to expand the university's reach and capabilities in the health sciences. Nowadays, Oklahoma State University-Centre for Health Sciences is a top-ranked academic health center consisting of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, the School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Forensic Sciences, the School of Health Care Administration, the School of Allied Health and a Physician Assistant Program.

 Institute of Technology- 

In 1946, Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology was founded. It is a public institute of technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.  The institute’s ranking in the 2022 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Colleges West is #31. The institute offers various services like- nonremedial tutoring, day care, health service, health insurance and many more. The campus is spread across 160-acres of land.  

Libraries

The Oklahoma State University Libraries play an important role in the University’s educational and research work. Every campus has its own library. The branches of libraries on the main campus are; Architecture Library, Education and Teaching Library, College of Veterinary Medicine Library. The Edmond Low Library at Oklahoma State University has a vast collection of books, e-journals and e-books etc. University libraries are focused to provide top-notch library resources, programs, and services to the students. On-campus- University Housing of Oklahoma provides 31 residence halls for comfortable housing. Students can select the room of their choice based on costs, hall facilities, location, availability. Room design vary per hall and include multi-person units, singles, studios, suites, traditional halls, deluxe suites and some apartment-style rooms with kitchens for convenient living. Through university’s affinity housing students can live in groups of like-minded students who share the same love for sports, literature, film and course. 

Off-campus- The Oklahoma State University works in partnership with apartment.com and assists students in finding off-campus housing and roommates. They provide convenient housing to students, faculty and staff nearby campus. 

Medical services

 Oklahoma State University Department of University Health Services provides medical services to students. The staff consists of certified physicians and nurses who are dedicated towards their work and provide high quality medical care to students.
