Oregon State University

Oregon State University is a research based public land-grant university located in Corvallis, Oregon and it was established in 1868. The university is classified as “R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity”. It participates in sea-grant, space-grant and sun-grant research consortia: it is one of only four such universities in the country. Oregon State University, Library

The main library of Oregon State University is The Valley Library which is located on the main campus of the university in Corvallis. It was established in 1887 and it is named after philanthropist F.Wayne Valley who played football for Oregon State.

The library has more than 1.4 million volumes, 14,000 serials and more than 500,000 maps and government documents. It is designated as a Federal Depository Library and it  is also a repository for state documents. The library is a six storey building built of neoclassical style.

Oregon State University, Student life 

SPORTS AND FITNESS

The Oregon State University was selected as one of America’s “premier” universities in National ranking of academics, athletics opportunity and overall performance in 2008 by STACK magazine. The school’s mascot is Benny the Beaver. 

Reser Stadium is the home field for the school’s football team. The annual Oregon-Oregon State football rivalry football game is one of the longest running rivalries in all of college football.

Trysting Tree is the home golf course of the university and it features championship-worthy golf and practice facilities.

Apart from these, the university provides many varsity sports facilities in Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Hockey, Tennis, Table-Tennis, Swimming and Diving. 

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Oregon State University has over 400 active student organizations and groups.  Two Oregon students are members of the Oregon Student Association Board of directors. There is a YMCA- YWCA Round Table at the university. The student association of the university provides help and advice to their students on matters of academics, sports, administrative and even personal or financial issues.
