The name Susquehanna University is derived from the region's original Susquehannock settlers. University of Susquehanna It began as a missionary institute in 1858 and evolved into a four-year liberal arts university in 1895.

 The Susquehanna University campus in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, covers 325 acres (132 ha). On campus, there are over 50 buildings, the majority of which are in the Georgian style. Susquehanna University has four buildings that are LEED-certified by the United States Green Building Council: two residence halls, the Natural Sciences Center, and the Admission House, as well as a library, medical facilities, and other amenities.

    The TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program at Susquehanna University, one of the federal TRIO programs, was authorized in 1968 by the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1101a), as amended.
