Syracuse University is located in Syracuse, New York. The university is a private research institution. It was founded in the year 1831 by the Methodist Episcopal Church in Lima, New York. The university first began with the school of Liberal Arts and then grew rapidly after World War II. The University was the first in the nation to offer a bachelor of the fine arts degree. The University paved a way for the women way back in 1870 and is home to many great pioneers in different fields.

Syracuse University USP

Syracuse University Infrastructure and Services

Campus

Syracuse University Campus located in the heart of Syracuse, New York. The main campus of the University is also known as the “North Campus”. The main campus consists of all the administrative buildings, academic buildings and residential halls. The center of the campus is the Kenneth A. Shaw Quadrangle. The Comstock Tract Buildings, a historic district of older buildings, appeared on the list of National Register of Historic Places. The Schine Center is the hub for student life on North Campus as it includes various student activities. Hendricks Chapel is also located here which is a place for spiritual and religious life. 

South campus

There are some residences in the south campus. Besides that, South Campus is also home to the Institute for Sensory Research, Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion, Goldstein Student Center, Skytop Office Building, 621 Skytop Road. There are bus services connecting to all the campuses. Goldstein is a hub for students in the south campus. 

Libraries

Syracuse University Libraries are known for their largest collections of books, journals, research materials and all other collections. The libraries have a 24/7 access with all the modern-day facilities. The libraries are as follows:

Student life

Syracuse University Student life is quite happening. There are around 300 student clubs run by the students of the university. The various clubs, societies and associations keep on organizing events throughout the year. There are also championships and tournaments happening in the university.  

Media

Citrus-tv is the television studio run by the students. There are various magazines and also yearbooks that are created by the students. To name a few: The Onondagan Yearbook (defunct), The Daily Orange, Student Voice, Perception, Jerk Magazine, What the Health, 360, Baked Magazine, The Out Crowd, and Equal Time.  Daily Orange is a student-run newspaper of the university. WAER is the radio station of the University.

Athletics

Syracuse University athletic teams are called the “orange teams”. The university has its own stadium that is the Archbold Stadium. The various sports include football, baseball, basketball, rowing and so on.
