University History

In 1880, brothers Charles and Augustus Storrs gave land and money to start an agricultural school in Connecticut. After more than 130 years, the University of Connecticut became one of the top 25 public universities in the USA. U.S. News & World Report ranks University Connecticut among the Top 20 public universities in USA. University was founded in 1881. University of Connecticut has a total number of 18,917 undergraduates and the campus is spread over 4,057 acres of land.  The student and faculty ratio at the University of Connecticut is 14:1 and the acceptance rate are nearby 53%. Campuses

Storrs-

Storrs is the main campus of the University of Connecticut. It is located in the heart of the northeast part, midway between New York City and Boston. The campus makes for an energetic and inspiring environment. Here, students learn and create new knowledge with the help of highly educated professors. Rich diverse campus community is strengthened by more than 700 clubs and organizations. The University of Connecticut also has six cultural centers, five theaters, three museums, and there are the highest number of students living on campus in any public universities.

UConn Avery Point-

The UConn Avery Point campus at University of Connecticut is located on Long Island Sound at the mouth of the Thames River in Groton, it is a center of brilliance for marine studies and provides an outstanding education in more traditional areas of study. The Avery Point campus isa place for the Connecticut Sea Grant College Program, Oceanology project, the National Undersea Research Center, and the Long Island Sound Resource Center. With a wide range of introductory and advanced courses, students can achieve four-year degrees in American studies, English, general studies, marine sciences at UConn Avery Point campus.

UConn Hartford-

UConn Hartford campus at University of Connecticut offers hands-on learning experience and various opportunities to students to be successful. The School of Business

 Graduate provides part-time, full time and executive programs as per student’s interest. It also offers Three specialized MS programs in Business Analytics and Project Management, Human Resources Management and Financial Risk Management.

UConn Stamford-

The UConn Stamford campus at University of Connecticut, is a popular campus in the center of one of the city’s most powerful business communities, adjoining Fortune 500 headquarters. UConn Stamford students acquire immense access to internships, employment and field placements, with global companies, investment and banking institutions, and community-based companies in Stamford and in New York City, which is very close to the campus. Students can have free access to the campus shuttle to reach and come back from the train station.

The UConn Stamford campus offers four-year degrees in various programs like- business administration, business data analytics, communication, computer science, digital media and design etc. At the graduate level, the Stamford campus offers a wide range of courses like; master of business administration, master of science in financial risk management etc. Students can also apply to live in apartment-style University housing located just minutes from the Stamford campus.

UConn Waterbury-

UConn Waterbury campus at University of Connecticut, is fully equipped with modern facilities. Students at UConn Waterbury expand their knowledge and achieve accurate academic programs and community engagement made for them. The campus provides undergraduate degrees in allied health sciences, American studies, business administration, business data analytics in collaboration with the UConn Hartford campus. At the graduate level, the campus provides master of business administration and master of engineering degrees, the Certificate Entry into Nursing Program etc. for students.

UConn Health-

UConn Health campus at University of Connecticut in Farmington is home to the UConn John Dempsey Hospital and a vigorous academic medical center, the UConn School of Medicine, the UConn School of Dental Medicine, and a flourishing research program. Here students are able to pursue their education in an innovative manner with hands-on experience. Now, UConn Health has entered into extraordinary growth in all its three areas of: academics, research, and clinical care.

UConn School of Law-

UConn School of Law at University of Connecticut was founded in 1921. It is just a few miles away from the State Capital in Hartford. The offices of Hartford's law firms and corporations are also a few steps away from the campus. Students have access to all the institutions and firms for study, internships, practice and employment. It is accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools. Our programs stress on intellectual discipline and the development of professional skills which helps students in facing the challenges in law society.

On-campus- University of Connecticut has highest number of students living on campus as compared to other public university in the state. On- campus housing includes residence halls, suites, and apartments, with all facilities. Medical services

Student health and wellness (SHaW) attempts to create a safe and inclusive environment to upgrade the quality of life in our university. SHaW tries to reach every member of the university via specialized training which raises awareness, reduces disgrace, addresses barriers, and promotes comprehensive wellness.
