The GEMS International School, Al Khail, was established in September 2013 as a premier school that offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and the classes from primary years to higher secondary school. This school being a part of the GEMS group, educate the students aged 3 to 18 years of age from early education to the diploma program. At the GIS, the International Baccalaureate (IB) program splits the curriculum into Kindergarten (KG), Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP) programs. At this school, the students completing their education graduate with an IB diploma.
With a strong multicultural students and faculty, the school educates the students on the importance of acceptance, communication, appreciation and understanding, and the students become true global citizens, through developing these core personal and social skills, and maintaining the GEMS Education ethos of learning.
The school is committed to digital citizenship. Into the classroom, Our Bring Your Own Device program and dedicated Digital Learning Coaches implements technology and to find out the ways that technology can assist, enhance and differentiate learning, for this enables the students.

In May 2019, the GIS, Al Khail, graduated its first cohort of 25 students. In the full IB Diploma 21 students were enrolled . The average passing score was 30.1, higher than the global average. Above the global average of 4.76, the subject average passing grades were 4.79. The IB Courses Certificate was completed by the 4 students and of students choosing to access the higher education, to the degree programs 86% were directly admitted and to the foundation program 14% were admitted. On assessments by the International Baccalaureate Organization, the 2020 results were based. About its second cohort of students the GIS, Al Khail, revealed further information saying that a 62% pass rate were achieved by 34 students and were at 30 points and above, an overall average points of 32.57% of passes, and were at 35 points or higher, a 19%. 'over 40' the highest score being - 40 is the possible highest score - whilst the school's first bi-lingual candidate scored 34 points. On the submission of scores by the schools, were being based heavily with the 2021 awards, and an evidence of the grade inflation as a result - in 2020, the global IB average score was raised from 31.34 to 32.99 points in 2021; in 2019 a further significant leap from the figure of 29.62 etc.
