UCAT 2022 Preliminary Test Statistics

UCAT 2022 Statistics

The following UCAT Scoring Pattern, as shown below, contains data from the beginning of 2022 until the 11th of September 22, when 18,700 candidates have already appeared for the test. 

As mentioned by the official UCAT website, this data is a rough guide for candidates continuing with their UCAT prep to have an overall understanding of their performance. It is important to remember that this data is subject to change as the test cycle progresses. 

In 2022, the total mean UCAT score stands at 2,554. We will mention the interim mean score of each section in this article for your better understanding:

Section Wise Interim Mean Score

The UCAT Tests format is primarily divided into five sections. Let’s look at the 2022 interim mean score of each section:

1. ​Verbal Reasoning: 577

​2. Decision Making: 631

​3. Quantitative Reasoning: 674

4. Abstract Reasoning: 674

​5. Situational Judgement (Score in percentage band-wise)

  • 22% of candidates scored in Band 1
  • 38% of candidates scored in band 2
  • 29% percent of candidates scored in band 3
  • 11% of candidates scored in Band 4

If we perform an evaluation, it will be noticed that compared to 2021, when only 16% of candidates scored in Band 1, this year, more candidates have scored in Band 1. The scores of the remaining sections are close, except for Verbal Reasoning and Qualitative Reasoning, which are comparatively lower than last year.

The interim mean score for Verbal Reasoning was 584 in 2021 compared to 577 this year. At the same time, the interim mean score for Qualitative Reasoning was 685 last year compared to 674 this year.

2022 UCAT Deciles:

The UCAT exam has 10 Deciles (from one to ten) where the decile refers to 10% of the total candidates, in ascending order, i.e., the first decile represents the top 10% of scores, the second decile represents the top 20% of scores and so on. 

The 2022 interim deciles are given below:

  • 1st decile – 2,170
  • 2nd decile – 2,300
  • 3rd decile – 2,400
  • 4th decile – 2,480
  • 5th decile – 2,560
  • 6th decile – 2,630
  • 7th decile – 2,710
  • 8th decile – 2,800
  • 9th decile – 2,940
