The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) scheme was created to maintain and improve international research linkages and specifically aims to attract top quality international postgraduate students to areas of research strength in the Australian higher education sector and bolster Australia’s research effort. In addition to IPRS, Curtin has a number of Strategic International Research Scholarships (CSIRS) available.
Eligibility Criteria/ Scholarship Guidelines
IPRS – Current and Future Students
• This award is available to citizens of an overseas country (excluding New Zealand);
• Scholarships will be available on academic merit and research capacity to suitably eligible overseas graduates eligible to commence a higher degree by research in;
• Candidates must gain admission to be awarded scholarships;
• Candidates must have satisfied English language requirements for the chosen course of study by 31st August
• Is expected to not have held an AusAID scholarship within two years prior to commencing the IPRS;
CSIRS – Future Students only
• This award is available to citizens of an overseas country (excluding New Zealand);
• Scholarships will be given on academic merit, alignment with strategic research areas, and research capacity, to suitably qualified overseas graduates eligible to commence a higher degree by research
• Candidates must gain admission to be awarded scholarships;
• Applicants must have satisfied English language requirements for the chosen course of study by 31st August
• This scholarship is open to future doctoral students only.
Value
The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) provides: • Course tuition fee for two years for a Masters by Research and three years for a Doctoral degree; and • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the recipient and their dependents for the duration of the award. • In addition, all successful applicants will receive an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) valued at $24,653 for living allowance. This tax-free stipend is indexed annually. Curtin Strategic International Research Scholarship (CSIRS) provides: • Course tuition fee for the duration of three years for a Doctoral degree; and • Basic single overseas health coverage (OSHC) for the recipient; and • A stipend equal to that of the APA per annum tax free for the duration of your study.
