The George J. Mitchell Scholarship supports one year of graduate study in any field, at an institution of higher learning in Ireland, including the seven universities in the Republic of Ireland and the two universities in Northern Ireland. Termed to honor former U.S. Senator George Mitchell’s critical contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, the program is planned to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while identifying and supporting intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to the community and public service.
