The University of Edinburgh is offering Career Development Ph.D. scholarships for students starting their Ph.D. research at the University. This scholarship scheme provides a valuable opportunity for postgraduate research students to undertake a package of training and development which will help them to develop the necessary skills required to meet their career choices, and offer them a breadth of development opportunities in areas such as teaching, public engagement, entrepreneurship, and research.
Eligibility Criteria/Scholarship Guidelines
To be considered for the scholarship, one must fulfill the following requisites:
Candidates should have already applied for admission to a full-time Ph.D. research program of study at the University of Edinburgh.
Candidates must be of outstanding academic merit and research potential. They must have, or expect to obtain, a UK first-class or 2:1 Honours degree at the undergraduate level or the international equivalent.
Candidates must have good English Language skills with scholarship applicants normally requiring a minimum IELTS of 7.0.
Other factors such as nationality, financial status, and the proposed field of study are not taken into account.
The University of Edinburgh will not generally consider candidates who have already obtained a Ph.D., or formal equivalent, as a result of direct research training.
Value
Each scholarship will cover the UK/EU rate of tuition fee as well as a stipend which will increase each year. In the first year, the level of stipend will be £13,500; in the next year this will increase to £14,000; and in year 3 the level will be £14,500. Subject to satisfactory progress of the student, the awards are tenable for up to three years.
