The Joint Bachelor of Arts in AASD and Masters of Public Management provides an excellent opportunity to bring together African-American history and culture with the specialized skills of policy analysis and research. The joint program, sponsored by the AASD and the School of Public Affairs, seeks to prepare students to enter and contribute to the world of policy making with a unique understanding of the problems and challenges facing the black community. Students who successfully complete the program receive a B.A. in African American Studies and a Master of Arts in Public Management.The in-depth analysis conducted in this program prepares future policy analysts and public administrators with knowledge of the historical,cultural and economic underpinnings of contemporary problems as manifested in minority communities, and develops the creative, analytical capacities necessary for finding new and innovative solutions to those problems.
