Program Overview

Students will be required to complete the Community Health Planning & Implementation Certificate (15 credits), the Community Health Methods & Evaluation Certificate (15 credits), and required general education courses to graduate with an associate's degree. The skills gained in the associate's degree would provide students with an excellent foundation in community health and teach valuable skills important to many different types of organizations.After completing the associate's degree, a bachelor's degree can be obtained by completing a third, more advanced certificate along with additional general education and elective courses (total of 120 credits). The third certificate includes the following options which can be selected according to the student's interests and career pursuits:Epidemiology Certificate (14 credits),Occupational Safety and Health (13 credits),Human Services (15 credits).Additional advanced certificates may be explored in the future to broaden the offerings to students in the health field. While not included in this proposal, future offerings could include Healthcare Administration and Mental Health Services. .A 1-3 credit internship or project will also be required to graduate with a bachelor's degree (HS 498R or HS 499R).If desired, students could choose to take other elective certificates to further develop skills related to a specific career goal. Potential elective certificates could include:Entrepreneurship,Social Media Marketing,Business & Leadership Skills,Database,Marriage, Family, & Human Relations,Parent & Family Education
