An AAS degree in Medical Assisting will teach students how to coordinate patient care, be effective team members in healthcare delivery, and develop skills for a range of clinical and administrative tasks. Medical assistants perform a variety of patient care activities under the supervision of a physician in settings such as a physician's private or group practice, acute care hospitals, ambulatory care centers, long-term care facilities, and rehabilitation facilities. Responsibilities may include preparing treatment rooms for patient examination, interviewing patients, recording patient vital signs, scheduling patient appointments, and sterilizing and positioning instruments.
