Year 3: The final year focuses on turning entrepreneurial concepts into sustainable and scalable ventures. Students explore Venture Growth Strategies, Future Trends and Entrepreneurial Ventures, Venture Model and Launch, Ethics and Sustainability and Agile Business Practices, before completing a Professional Placement and Capstone Project that allows them to put their learning into practice in a real workplace.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at International Graduate Institute (IGI) takes a practical, “learning by doing” approach. Students work in interdisciplinary teams, develop and test business ideas, use design-thinking approaches and learn from industry specialists alongside their academic studies. In the final year, this becomes especially hands-on through a 150-hour professional placement and capstone project, giving students the opportunity to work in a professional environment and investigate a real workplace problem.

The program's practical learning is supported by:

  • Venture development: Students work through Venture Ideation and Validation, Design Thinking and Lean StartUp, and later Venture Model and Launch, allowing them to develop and test entrepreneurial ideas.
  • Interdisciplinary teamwork: The program emphasises “learning by doing” in interdisciplinary teams, giving students opportunities to collaborate while developing entrepreneurial solutions.
  • Professional placement: The WIL301 Professional Placement and Capstone Project includes a minimum of 150 hours of workplace placement, combined with a workplace-based project focused on identifying a problem and conducting research.
  • Practical assessments: Students complete individual and group tasks, presentations, group assignments, simulations, case studies, reports and reflective activities, providing opportunities to apply classroom learning.
  • Digital learning: IGI uses Moodle to support face-to-face teaching and provide students with a digital learning environment.
  • Microsoft Office 365: Students have access to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote for their studies and projects.
  • Technology-enabled classrooms: The Sydney campus has modern classrooms with whiteboards and data-projection facilities, supporting group discussions and presentations.
  • Collaborative campus spaces: Students have access to common areas, kitchen and lunch facilities, and spaces designed to encourage interaction and collaboration.
  • Central Sydney setting: The campus is located at 540 George Street, adjacent to Town Hall and close to Sydney's train, bus and light-rail network.
