Radio is the theatre of the mind and the imagination. Radio audiences continue to grow in spite of the popularity of other media, attracted by its capacity to help listeners generate ideas, vicariously participate in engaging conversations, and multi-task as they listen. People skilled in radio, digital audio and broadcast production work both in the studio and behind the scenes in production, research, business and advertising. This major introduces students to the radio broadcasting industry, practice and ethics. It has a substantial practical component in radio broadcast and production that explores the contemporary position of radio and its relationships with other media, especially online platforms. Radio broadcast and production units are complemented by subjects that allow students to explore synergies between radio, web design, music production and vocal studies.
