3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Edith Cowan University

Program Overview

If you’re passionate about sport and want to turn that passion into a purposeful career, this degree gives you a global edge. You’ll learn how sport organisations operate across different markets, lead exciting projects, and deliver memorable events — all while gaining real-world experience through internships and industry placements.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1
In your first year, you’ll build a solid foundation by discovering how sport is organised and run. You’ll dive into subjects like Sport Delivery Systems, Sport and Recreation Leadership and Programming, and Business Environments & Markets. You’ll also get hands-on with events through Introduction to Event Management, and understand the structure behind sport organisations with Sport Organisation Management. Alongside these core subjects, you’ll choose supplementary units — giving you the chance to start shaping your own path with electives or a minor.

Year 2
In your second year, things get more applied. You’ll explore Managing Recreation Services and Facilities, learning how to oversee venues and public recreation operations. Sport and Events Funding and Finance will show you how to resource sport initiatives, while Sport and Leisure Law ensures you understand the legal side of the game. You’ll also sharpen your marketing skills through Marketing in Global Sport Business and get hands-on with Event Operations Management. Your supplementary program continues, letting you refine your focus area and explore what excites you most.

Year 3
Your final year is all about strategic thinking and real-world execution. You’ll use data as your playbook in Data Analysis for Marketing Insights and then apply your skills to bigger projects in Sport Business Planning and Sport Venues and Events. The highlight is Professional Practice, a hands-on placement where you’ll spend at least 80 hours working with real sport organisations — gaining practical experience in event or sport operations. Meanwhile, you’ll complete your remaining major or elective units, giving you flexibility to tailor your final year to your goals.
