Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Science

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Macquarie University

Program Overview

This double degree combines Macquarie’s forward-thinking Bachelor of Business with a flexible, in-depth Bachelor of Science. It’s perfect for students who want to connect commercial insight with scientific expertise — for example, those interested in data science, environmental business, biotech entrepreneurship, or sustainability consulting.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1:
In your first year, you’ll lay a solid foundation in both areas. In business, you’ll explore core subjects like Leadership for Business and Business Communication, developing teamwork, strategic thinking, and communication skills. At the same time, the science stream covers essential theory and hands-on practice, giving you a broad understanding before choosing your major.

Year 2:
Your business studies in year two become more applied. You might take an Employability Unit, which helps you contextualize key business skills and prepare for the workplace. In science, you’ll start focusing on your chosen major, supported by hands-on projects and lab work to deepen your practical and analytical skills.

Year 3:
By the third year, your business and science learning start to intersect more clearly. You’ll apply business theory to real-world challenges through projects, while your science studies involve larger, cross-disciplinary projects that develop independence in research, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Year 4:
Your final year is all about bringing it together. In business, you’ll complete a capstone project that draws on leadership, innovation, and ethical decision-making. In science, you’ll work on a collaborative “real-world” project, often with industry, government, or research partners, gaining firsthand experience in tackling complex scientific challenges.
