Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Creative Industries

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Queensland University of Technology

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business / Bachelor of Creative Industries at QUT is a unique double degree that blends strategic business thinking with imaginative creative practice. It’s ideal for students who want to run businesses, launch brands, or lead creative enterprises—all while mastering both commercial and artistic skills.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1:
In the first year, you'll build a solid business foundation through core units like Financial Performance, Business Environment, and Business Citizenship. At the same time, you’ll begin your creative industries journey with your first studio course, Creative Enterprise Studio 1, and a creative futures unit like KKB180 Creative Futures, giving you a taste of entrepreneurship, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving.

Year 2:
Year 2 deepens both sides of the degree. On the creative side, you choose from introductory units such as Introduction to Film, TV and New Media Production, Visual Communication, or Photomedia and Artistic Practice. Meanwhile, your business studies continue through core business units and your selected business major (e.g., marketing, management, advertising), ensuring that your creative passion is always informed by real-world business strategy.

Year 3:
In year three, you begin immersing yourself in your chosen creative industries major—whether that’s media and communication, screen content production, interactive design, or another path—while still taking business units like Advertising Campaigns or Intermediate Microeconomics. You also take Creative Enterprise Studio 2 (KKB285), where your creative projects evolve through prototyping, teamwork, and industry-style challenges.

Year 4:
In your final year, you cap off your creative learning with Creative Enterprise Studio 3 (KKB385)—a capstone project where you bring your own creative business idea to life, backed by the entrepreneurial frameworks you’ve studied. You’ll also take Work Integrated Learning 1 (KKB341), combining hands-on work experience with your business studies, plus a business unit in Creative Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (KKB380). This year is all about applying what you’ve learned to real-world creative-business ventures.

Focus Areas:

Professional Alignment (Accreditation):
On the business side, students complete core units and a major (such as accounting, marketing, finance, HR, etc.) that meet professional recognition requirements for many business careers. The creative component is grounded in studio-based learning and work-integrated experiences, preparing students for real industry challenges. Over time, this dual degree helps you build a network that spans both creative and corporate worlds.

QUT is well-regarded on the global and national stage, and its hands-on, industry-connected learning is a big reason why. The university’s strong employer reputation helps graduates from this double degree land roles in creative startups, media agencies, festivals, or corporate business functions—making this a smart choice for students who want both creative freedom and practical business impact.
