Bachelor of Business

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Torrens University

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Business at Torrens University Australia offers a flexible, hands-on introduction to the world of business — ideal for anyone who wants a broad, practical foundation whether you’re heading for corporate management or dreaming of launching your own venture. Over three years, you’ll learn how businesses operate, how to spot opportunities for growth, and build real skills through projects and industry-based experience.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1
In your first year you’ll start by building essential skills in communication and teamwork through units like Academic and Business Communication Skills and Understanding Self and Others, helping you sharpen how you express ideas and collaborate — no prior business background required. You’ll also dive into the fundamentals of business with courses such as Marketing in the Digital Era and The Business Environment, giving you a broad understanding of how markets, customers, and external factors shape businesses. Early on you also undertake Industry Skills Project, a 50-hour practicum that gives you a taste of real-world business work and helps put your learning into context.

Year 2
The second year deepens your understanding of running an organisation. In units like Accounting for Decision Making you’ll learn how financial information supports business decisions — reading reports, budgeting, and more. Meanwhile, Customer Experience Management and Developing People and Culture introduce you to customer-centric strategy and people management: you’ll learn how to map customer journeys, design better services, and foster positive workplace culture. These courses start to show how different aspects — finance, people, customers — come together to run a successful business.

Year 3
Your final year prepares you for the real business world. Through courses like Organisational Creativity & Innovation, you’ll get hands-on in designing new business ideas or improving existing ones — from scratch to pitch-ready. Strategic Management challenges you to think big: how do companies adapt in changing markets, plan long-term, and stay competitive? And finally the Industry Consulting Project gives you up to 150 hours of live-project experience, working with real clients to solve real business problems — the kind of work that bridges classroom and career.

Focus Areas
General Business with flexibility to explore electives in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Event Management, Hospitality, Sport Management, and more.

Learning Outcomes
You’ll graduate able to analyse business environments, make informed financial and strategic decisions, lead teams, understand customers, and design actionable business solutions — with actual industry experience under your belt.

Professional Alignment (Accreditation)
The degree is AQF Level 7 authorised, ensuring it meets high academic standards, and as a member of EFMD, Torrens University shows its commitment to delivering quality, globally recognised business education.

As part of a globally oriented private university system that values work-integrated learning and industry partnerships, the program is known for strong employability: graduates often move straight into roles as operations, marketing or business development managers — or even start their own ventures. The flexible structure and real-world experience give you a real advantage in today’s competitive job market.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

If you join the Bachelor of Business at Torrens University Australia, you’re signing up for much more than lectures. The program is built so that you don’t just learn business theory — you use it in real, professional settings. Through things like consulting projects, industry placements and live client briefs, you build career-ready skills, make real-world plans, and graduate with both practical experience and professional contacts.

Here are the real experiential learning opportunities this program offers:

  • Industry placements totalling roughly 300 hours — so you spend significant time working in actual business environments before you graduate.

  • A dedicated Industry Consulting Project subject, where you work on real business problems in a professional context rather than just case studies or simulations.

  • Earlier in the degree, an Industry Skills Project offering ~50 hours of industry experience — giving you a taste of real business practice early on.

  • Later, an Industry Engagement Project (~100 hours) through the university’s Social Enterprise Hub or via an approved workplace, working with external clients to solve genuine business challenges.

  • Elective choices across Marketing, Public Relations, Event Management, Tourism & Hospitality, allowing you to tailor your experience to the field you care about most.
