BEng Mechanical Engineering Honours

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Western Sydney University Penrith

Program Overview

This program provides students with a firm foundation in mechanical systems, design, and advanced manufacturing, along with practical problem-solving skills in the real world. Graduates are well equipped to move into the mechanical engineering profession or pursue further academic study.

Curriculum Structure:
• The course combines rigorous theoretical instruction with practice.
• Students begin with a standard first-year framework of fundamental engineering principles.
• They then proceed to advanced mechanical engineering subjects, including thermodynamics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and control systems.
• The course also places emphasis on practical workshops, labs, and industry-integrated learning.
• Students in their final year undertake an Honours project, through which they can either work solo or in groups to solve real-world engineering problems, showcasing their research and design skills.

Accreditation:
• The program is accredited by Engineers Australia, ensuring that it meets high national standards and equips graduates to register as professional engineers in Australia and abroad.

Campus Location:
• Teaching is undertaken predominantly at the Penrith campus in Sydney, which boasts state-of-the-art laboratories, workshops, and research facilities, providing students with practical experience.
