A solid grounding in the underlying science is essential for people intending to work in this field, who will need to integrate knowledge across a range of disciplines, to devise solutions spanning the scientific and social issues involved. Some of the key areas in this degree include conservation biology, environmental analysis, regulation and policy, environmental chemistry, climate change science, microbiology, spatial data analysis, environmental geochemistry, biodiversity and adaptation, and ecology including marine and aquatic ecology. There are a range of majors (climate change and environmental management) and sub-majors (sustainability) offered in Science that can add diversity and/or focus to your degree. There are also a range of sub-majors from other disciplines such as the arts, business, humanities and social sciences to choose from, although these may require cross campus study and are subject to availability and timetabling.
