Program Overview

Health Promotion extends beyond raising awareness of healthcare issues to developing and implementing strategies for communities, individuals and policy-makers to improve their health and wellbeing. Health Promotion graduates help communities and individuals to change their behaviour, working with employers, not-for-profit foundations, disability councils, the public health sector, community health centres, youth centres, schools and local government. Health promotion projects are as diverse as injury prevention, skin cancer prevention, HIV/AIDS awareness and community development. The program combines studies of health politics and planning, health promotion practice, injury prevention, public health with a comprehensive foundation of the health sciences to develop the professional competencies important for ethical and safe practice and high quality care and the skills to work in multidisciplinary teams
