4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
The PPE program at Central European University is an interdisciplinary degree that combines philosophy, politics, and economics to help you understand how societies, governments, and markets interact. It is designed for students who are interested in big-picture questions about how the world works and want strong analytical skills for careers in policy, research, international organizations, or business.
The program builds your understanding across all three disciplines first, then allows you to gradually focus on the areas that interest you most while maintaining a strong interdisciplinary perspective.
Curriculum Structure
Year 1
In the first year, you explore the foundations of philosophy, politics, and economics, learning how each discipline approaches key societal issues. You typically study core modules such as Introduction to Political Thought, Principles of Economics, and Introduction to Philosophy, which help you build critical thinking, reasoning, and analytical skills from different perspectives.
Year 2
In the second year, you start to focus more deeply on selected areas while still maintaining breadth across the three disciplines. Courses such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Political Theory, and Moral Philosophy help you strengthen both your theoretical understanding and analytical abilities.
Year 3
In the third year, you move into more advanced topics and typically choose greater specialization. You may also have the opportunity to study abroad. Alongside advanced coursework, you begin developing your bachelor’s thesis, applying what you have learned to an independent research project.
Year 4
In the final year, you focus on advanced-level courses and complete your capstone thesis. This year is about refining your expertise, strengthening research skills, and preparing for either graduate study or professional entry.
