Program Overview

The UFRJ History Department is divided into six areas of knowledge: History of America, Ancient History, History of Brazil, Medieval History, Modern History, Contemporary History, and History Theory and Methodology. The Department has two Postgraduate programs: Social History (PPGHIS) and Comparative History (PPGHC). It maintains several research programs and laboratories, whose objectives are to survey, classify and disseminate the documentary and historiographic collection; develop research projects; and disseminate the results to the university and educational scientific community.

Completed Electronic form; Letter of introduction issued by the Brazilian Diplomatic Mission after approval by Celpe-Bras; Birth or Marriage Certificate (original and copy); School record and Certificate of Completion of high school or equivalent: original and translated (if not in Portuguese); Registration Agreement Term (TCM) and Financial Responsibility Term (TRF): Originals in 2 copies of each term with issue date less than 3 months from the date of registration at UFRJ; Statement by the source of scholarship or school credit of the Government of your country, indicating the amounts and duration of the benefit(original and copy); Physical and mental health certificate issued in the last 90 days; Certificate of approval at Celpe-Bras, when applicable (original and copy); Passport (original and copy); Updated student visa (VITEM-IV) (original and copy); Proof or protocol of registration in the Register of Individuals (CPF); 2 photos size 3x4 cm.
