Program Overview

This interdisciplinary program, jointly offered by the Beedie School of Business and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, allows students to graduate with either a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a Bachelor of Arts (BA) depending on their faculty of primary admission. It is designed for students seeking a deep understanding of business operations and the economic forces that shape global markets and societies.

The curriculum blends management theory and practice with economic analysis, equipping students to tackle issues such as financial stability, economic policy, inflation, and global trade from a dual perspective.

  • Choose a BBA (Beedie) or BA (Economics) pathway

  • Emphasis on policy, market systems, quantitative reasoning, and strategy

Course Overview

  • Lower Division (Years 1–2): Critical Thinking in Business (3), Communication in Economics (4), Microeconomic Theory I: Competitive Behavior (4), Behaviour in Organizations (3), Financial Accounting I (3)
  • Business Upper Division (Years 3–4): Introduction to Finance (3), Introduction to Marketing (3), Commercial Law (3), Organization Theory (3)
  • Economics Upper Division (Years 3–4): Microeconomic Theory II: Strategic Behavior (4), Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory (4), Statistical Analysis of Economic Data (4), Introduction to Probability and Statistics (3)

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Access to SFU Co-op Program with placements in finance, consulting, government, and tech

  • Capstone business strategy projects (for BBA students)
