Program Overview

UFV's Bachelor of Media Arts prepares you for creative production in digital and interactive media, one of the fastest growing industries in B.C. today. We spend a large portion of our waking lives staring at or into screens, from the tiny windows on our smartphones to the gigantic projections in IMAX theatres. Screen studies focuses on enabling students to assess the impact that screens in the broadest sense are having on our lives and on society as a whole. Students in this concentration will explore this impact in terms of how their viewing experiences affect thoughts, emotions, and behaviours for better or for worse. They will also focus on the other side of the screen to examine how producers create messages that communicate effectively and persuasively to the audiences they want to reach.

Additional Information & Requirements

Must completed the equivalent of Canadian Grade 12 (Form Six or five O-levels plus at least two A-levels) or near-equivalent standing, high school transcript(s) and proof of graduation, post-secondary transcript(s) from all institutions attended, IELTS (Academic) - score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum band score of 6.0, TOEFL of 88 or higher (iBT) with no section below 20, CAEL - score of 70, PTE - score of 61 with 60 in writing, MELAB - score of 85, Cambridge - Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) min C, CanTEST - score of 4.5 with a minimum writing score of 4.0
