The Undergraduate Anthropology Program at Brandon University encompasses three of the discipline's four traditional major sub-fields: Socio-Cultural Anthropology, Archaeology,and Biological Anthropology.Archaeology is the study of ancient ways of life and cultures through the examination of the material people left behind, such as pottery, stone tools, bones of food animals, art and building foundations. A 4 year degree in Anthropology provides students with a strong methodological and theoretical foundation in the discipline. Students should select courses in all subdisciplines of anthropology but are able to emphasize on one subdiscipline. Students with 4 year degree may be required to take supplementary undergraduate courses prior to admission into an Anthropology M.A. program. Students must achieve a grade point average of 2.00 in courses both for their Anthropology Major and their chosen Minor.
Eligibility for the 4-Year honours program is contingent upon a 3.0 grade point average and written permission from the Department Chair. The four year honours program requires the completion of 12:499 Advanced Topics in Anthropology as well as an advanced methods course and an advanced theory course in the same discipline. Student must complete a minimum of 54 credit hours. Before the completion of their third year, students must consult with the Chair and the relevant faculty member regarding availability of 12:499.
