Program Overview

The aim of the Czech Sign Language Interpreting study program is primarily to prepare qualified experts providing adequate interpreting and translation services for the hearing-impaired citizens of the Czech Republic, to which these citizens are entitled according to the current legislation. In principle, it is an interdisciplinary study that combines knowledge of theoretical linguistics and social service: Czech sign language is studied in the context of the linguistic description of other natural languages, and its practical knowledge is used in services for the deaf and hard of hearing.
