Program Overview

The Social Anthropology study program will introduce you to differences in all spheres of human behavior . What was previously self-evident and universal for you suddenly acquires a relative dimension. You will learn, for example, when milk is more important than blood in determining kinship, or why some cultures are not afraid of death. You will find that in certain parts of Canada one becomes rich and respected only after giving away and destroying all one's possessions. Or that a gift is not always necessarily selfless, but can also function as a form of social insurance.
