Bachelor of Economics of Markets and Organizations

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Economics Prague

Program Overview

The Economics of Markets and Organizations program is a three-year English-taught degree that bridges economic theory with real-world business practice, preparing you to understand how markets, industries, and organizations function in today's dynamic economy. By combining the expertise of CERGE-EI (a leading research center) and VŠE's Faculty of Business Administration, you'll gain both strong analytical skills and practical business knowledge taught by genuine experts in the field.

This program is ideal if you're curious about how markets work, want to develop problem-solving skills grounded in economic analysis, and see yourself working as a market analyst, consultant, economist, or even an international development professional.

Curriculum Structure

Year One: Building Your Foundation

Your first year establishes the core principles you'll build on throughout the program. You'll dive into Economics & Economic Behavior (ECON), exploring the foundations of micro- and macroeconomics alongside how individuals, firms, and governments make decisions. Simultaneously, the Methodology (METHOD) component introduces quantitative tools, statistics, econometrics, and programming for data analysis—skills that become indispensable as you progress. This combination ensures you're not just learning theory but also developing the technical competence to analyze real market data.

Year Two: Connecting Theory to Practice

In your second year, the curriculum expands to show you how economic principles play out in actual markets. You'll study Markets & Market Contexts (CONTXT), learning how industries operate, competition functions, and regulatory frameworks shape business decisions. The Management & Entrepreneurship (BUS) module rounds this out by exploring leadership, organizational design, and innovation—giving you insight into how companies actually navigate the markets you're analyzing. By this stage, you're beginning to see the full picture of how economics and business strategy interact.

Year Three: Applied Learning and Specialization

Your final year focuses on Applications (APPLIED), where you tackle real-world case studies, projects, and problem-solving scenarios that mirror challenges you'll face professionally. With a solid foundation and advanced analytical skills now in place, you're ready to apply everything you've learned to actual business and economic questions. You'll also complete your English C1 language requirement and a mandatory sport course, rounding out your development as a well-rounded professional.
