Program Overview

The BSc in International Business and Politics at Copenhagen Business School gives you a unique edge by showing how economic and political forces shape our globalizing world, and how companies adapt their strategies to thrive amid it all. It's perfect for curious students who love connecting the dots between business decisions, government policies, and real-world events like trade wars or sustainability challenges—equipping you with skills to analyze companies, markets, and politics at local and international levels.

Curriculum Structure
Year 1
dives into the foundations, blending business basics with political insights to help you understand how companies operate and how political systems influence markets in developed and developing countries. You'll explore courses like How Companies Work, where you analyze strategic decisions, pricing, competition, innovation, and risk management; Business in the Economy, covering supply and demand, inflation, exchange rates, and trade policy; and Politics, building a thorough grasp of state-market interactions and their societal impacts.

Year 2 builds on that base, sharpening your ability to see how global issues like recessions or regulations ripple through businesses and economies—you'll tackle real-world connections between firms and governments. Key courses include deeper dives into business strategies in national and international contexts, economic shifts affecting production and employment, and political institutions that shape business environments.

Year 3 ramps up with practical application, including options like the BSc IBP Internship (15 or 30 ECTS), where you apply program skills to real organizational challenges, developing research questions on business-politics links, analyzing evidence with IBP theories, and delivering value-focused insights. It culminates in the Bachelor Project, your independent capstone under supervision, tying everything together on a topic blending international business and politics.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The BSc in International Business and Politics stands out because it bridges theory and practice from day one. You won't just learn concepts in lectures—you'll apply them immediately through hands-on exercises, collaborative projects, and direct engagement with real business and political challenges. This approach means you graduate with genuine skills employers actively seek, not just theoretical knowledge.

The programme combines traditional lectures introducing core theories and models with smaller exercise classes where you work hands-on, solving assignments and applying what you've learned to actual case studies. This blend ensures you develop both the analytical foundation and the practical ability to tackle complex problems. Beyond the classroom, you have the option to pursue an academic internship—a real working period in a company completed with a project report—that lets you reflect on and apply CBS theory to genuine business scenarios. The internship can take place either in or outside of Denmark, giving you geographic flexibility.

The experiential learning opportunities available to you include:

- Academic internship option allowing you to substitute some electives with a 30 ECTS working period in a public, private, profit, or non-profit organization, with completion of a formal project report
- Group projects integrated into mandatory courses where you work collaboratively with study groups on larger assignments
- Case study work embedded throughout exercise classes, where you apply theoretical frameworks to realistic business scenarios
- Research-focused internship project where you develop and address a real research question based on actual organizational challenges, focusing on the relationship between business and politics in an international environment
- Practical methodology training in data collection techniques including interviews and empirical research methods you can deploy during internship placements
- Study group formation encouraged among students for collaborative preparation and peer learning beyond formal coursework

This combination means by graduation, you'll have both theoretical expertise and demonstrated professional experience—a significant advantage when applying for positions in management consulting, public affairs, international development, NGOs, or government relations.
