The Bachelor Degree (LL.B.)

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Copenhagen

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at the University of Copenhagen is a focused three-year degree (180 ECTS) designed to give you a strong and structured foundation in Danish law. It’s a great fit if you’re serious about a legal career, enjoy academic challenge, and want to study in a research-driven environment that builds real legal expertise from day one.

Curriculum Structure

First Year
You’ll start by getting comfortable with the fundamentals of the Danish legal system and how it works in everyday life. Courses like Strafferet og Straffeproces (Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, 15 ECTS) introduce you to how crimes are handled, investigated, and judged, while Erstatning og kontrakt (Torts and Contracts, 10 ECTS) helps you understand responsibility, damages, and agreements between people and businesses. It’s a year that builds your legal mindset and makes complex rules feel practical and meaningful.

Second Year
With the basics in place, you’ll move deeper into the legal frameworks that shape society and public life. In Obligationsret (Law of Obligations, 15 ECTS), you explore legal duties, debts, and binding commitments, and in Forvaltningsret (Administrative Law, 15 ECTS), you learn how public authorities make decisions and how citizens’ rights are protected. This stage really sharpens your analytical thinking and teaches you how to interpret and apply legal principles with precision.

Third Year
Your final year gives you more freedom to explore your interests and prove how far you’ve come. You’ll choose elective courses that match your goals and curiosities, then complete the Bachelorprojekt (15 ECTS) — an independent research project where you tackle a real legal issue in depth. It’s a rewarding finish that lets you specialise and demonstrate your ability to think and work like a legal professional.
