The focus of the bachelor's program English Studies -- British and American Studies is on dealing with the English language and its varieties, with English-language literature and cultures, and with the didactics of English as a foreign language. The academic perspective of Bielefeld's English Studies is not limited to Great Britain and the USA. Rather, he also includes the language, culture and literature of cultural communities in Africa, the Caribbean or India and of countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or Scotland in research and teaching.
