Program Overview

The BA course English-Speaking Cultures can be studied as a profile subject, a complementary subject or with a teaching post option. The subject E-SC comprises four areas: structure, varieties and use of the English language linguistics, English-language literature literary studies, cultural history of the English-speaking world cultural historyand professionalization module basic and advanced module: Theory and practice of foreign language teaching. The BA E-SC is not geared towards a specific target culture e.g. the UK or the USA but towards the entire English-speaking world --- including regions and institutions with English as a medium of international communication. In addition to the traditional English-speaking regions, post-colonial language and cultural areas are also taken into account in the course, where English is the dominant medium of communication. The course takes place in English.
