"Our environment is characterized by complex systems such as ecosystems (forest), human-environment systems (city), economic systems (companies) or transport systems (rail). Knowing the properties of individual system components does not allow conclusions to be drawn about the behavior of the overall system.Systems scientists use a wide range of methods to analyze the relationships within complex systems with the aim of explaining their behavior and being able to control their development. Mathematical and computer-aided models are important tools.The ""Applied Systems Science"" course in Osnabr ck is unique in Germany. It is made up of the disciplines of systems science, mathematics, computer science and an application subject. Biology, chemistry, physics, economics, social sciences, geography/geoinformatics or psychology can be selected as an application subject."
