BA Integrated European Studies

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Bremen

Program Overview

The Integrated European Studies are an interdisciplinary course with a focus on political science and cultural studies. During the first semester, lectures and seminars convey the basics of political and cultural studies with a clear reference to Europe. Central to this is the distinction between different concepts of Europe, e.g. B. about the geographical space, the cultural space, institutions such as the Council of Europe and the European Union. In particular, the European Union is critically analyzed as a political and cultural context. A special emphasis is placed on turning points in European history in the 20th and 21st centuries, such as B. the end of the Second World War in 1945 and the beginning of integration in Western Europe or the end of the division of Europe from 1988/1989 and EU eastward expansion. Current processes (e.g. migration, Brexit, shift to the right) are the focus of accompanying lecture series and seminars.
