Indo-European Studies examines developments and connections in the Indo-European language family, to which most of the languages spoken in Europe today and a number of Asian languages belong. This makes Indo-European Studies an ideal core and supplementary subject for everyone who is interested on the one hand in language development and language comparison up to the present day, and on the other hand gets to know the literature, culture and religion of ancient peoples from the Celts or Teutons to the Indians or Hittites want. In the bachelor's degree, the methods and areas of application of general and historical-comparative linguistics as well as antiquity are presented and applied in practice during intensive study of individual ancient languages.
