Program Overview

Middle and Neo-Latin philology has a special bridging function in the context of philological and all historical disciplines. The subject is fundamentally interdisciplinary. The teaching focuses on literary and intellectual history and on practical work on ancient manuscripts. You will learn to read Latin manuscripts and determine where and when they were written. And you will gain an overview of the literary forms of expression that were used from antiquity to the formation of European literatures.
