Program Overview

It is the basis of many disciplines and keys to important research topics - the ancient Hebrew language. At the Faculty of Protestant Theology students have the opportunity to learn the basic knowledge of the ancient Hebrew language and literature and their position in the ancient Near Eastern intellectual history in three different courses. During their studies, they also deal with Semitic and general linguistics, literary science and Judaism. It conveys the capacity for a linguistically competent interpretation of Hebrew texts of the Old Testament taking into account the above-mentioned subdivisions and for their classification in Israelite-Jewish literary history, the history of Israel, and the reception history in Jewish and Christian tradition and theology.
