Program Overview

In the German Studies degree, you will look at the German language and literature from various academic perspectives. Linguistics focuses on linguistic structures, language use and language history. In the field of literary studies, you will deal with the development of German literature from the Middle Ages to the present, epochs, genres and authors. You will get to know the relevant theories, methods and models that will enable you to analyze and describe texts with regard to their linguistic, aesthetic and textual properties.
