3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Jena

Program Overview

You will get to know the phenomena, theories and methods of the two areas of synchronous and diachronic German linguistics. In synchronous linguistics, you acquire theoretical and application-related knowledge about the structure and use of contemporary German in all its facets. The course follows the linguistic description and analysis levels from sound to word, sentence and text to complex communicative processes. Diachronic German linguistics is about the representation of the oldest language levels of German in their traditional and linguistic context and about the development of their basic grammatical structures in texts. Your ability to read the German literary texts of the Middle Ages is promoted.
