Program Overview

The study of German literature, its basics, characteristic manifestations and history conveys basic knowledge of German culture and the ability to critically analyze and design processes of linguistic, especially aesthetic communication in the various areas of social, especially cultural life. The course comprises the two branches of science Modern German Literature and Older German Literature (Medieval Studies). You will acquire an overview of basic knowledge of German literature from the Middle Ages to the present day as well as in-depth knowledge of individual epochs, genres, authors and problem areas of cultural history on the basis of exemplary text reading and independent examination of scientific literature.
