Program Overview

Latin Studies deals with the culture of Roman antiquity on the basis of written testimonies. In addition to the Latin language, extra-textual reality is also explored. The aim of the course is to acquire sound knowledge of the Latin language and literature and to deal critically with the texts.The main research areas in Osnabr ck are medieval and early modern literature and the reception of Latin literature in humanism (especially the reception of Homer). The interest also applies to the history of classical philology in the 19th and 20th centuries.The subject Latin is offered as a core subject and must be combined with another subject.
