Historical science uses scientific methods and models to research people's past. The focus is on man as a social being and the conditions and consequences of his actions within the framework of the various forms of society and historical epochs. In its classic division, historical science distinguishes between antiquity, the Middle Ages, early modern times (16th to 18th centuries) and the most recent times (19th and 21st centuries).At the University of Osnabr ck, the fields of ancient history, history of the Middle Ages, history of the early modern period, modern and recent history, history of migration and didactics of history are represented. In teaching and research, European as well as regional issues are taken into account. In addition, peace and conflict research is the subject of all sub-areas.The subject of history is offered as a core and minor subject as part of the 2-subject bachelor's program and must be combined with another subject.
