Program Overview

Biology has developed more and more from an observational and descriptive science to an experimentally oriented discipline. Osnabr ck biology consists of the fields of biochemistry, biology didactics, biophysics, botany, genetics, microbiology, molecular cell biology, neurobiology, ecology, plant physiology, animal physiology, behavioral biology and zoology. The bachelor's degree in biology includes a common core curriculum in biology with its own teaching content from mathematics, chemistry and physics as an essential element that is not available in this type at other universities.After a basic module, students specialize in the subjects of biochemistry, botany, genetics and zoology. The subjects biophysics, microbiology, neurobiology, ecology, plant physiology, animal physiology and behavioral biology offer further elective courses. From the fifth semester, students specialize in two subject areas and complete their studies with a four-month, usually research-oriented, empirical bachelor's thesis.
